Pewits hold their nerve to continue cup run on a night of drama.

Super Emley booked their place in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 extra time win over Mossley at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground and earned themselves a tie at National league north side Alfreton Town.

Emley are the last remaining team from level 9 of the football pyramid following another Northern Premier League scalp in Mossley, Emley had seen off Widnes in the previous round.

The game was a tough one, played in wind and rain and both teams slugged it out like heavyweight boxers until Emley landed the final blows to finally knock The Lilywhites out, all the goals came late on in a dramatic last few minutes of normal time and extra time.

Mossley had a glorious early chance but a header from a corner went wide.

Emley soon found their way into the game and thought they had a chance from a corner but handball was ruled.

Then the best chance of the night so far fell Emley's way but after being put through, Ruben Jerome's shot was saved by the keeper, down at the other end, it was Dec Lambton who had to make a save from a long distance curling shot, within a minute, the Emley keeper had to make another save to keep the visitors out.

Emley then enjoyed a good period of pressure, claims for a handball against Mossley were ignored and then Pashley forced a couple of corners down Emley's right, from the last one, Cowgill saw a shot cleared away, Emley couldn't make their pressure count.

Mossley came back and saw a shot blaze over as they then enjoyed a few minute on top, again, nothing to show for their efforts as Emley's defence held firm, Mossley's pressure looked to have finally paid off when they were awarded a penalty but super Dec Lambton in goal, dived low to his left and produced a wonderful save, the resulting corner was dealt with and it was still scoreless heading into half time.

Jake Kelly replaced Jack Cowgill for Emley at half time and it was The Pewits who were on the front foot early in the 2nd half, Walker firing a low shot which the Mossley keeper spilled but the danger was eventually cleared.

Mossley then attacked and following a move down their left, a shot went wide, Mossley now had the upper hand, but again, Emley stood firm and kept their goal intact, another chance came and went as the NPL side fired wide again.

James Walshaw replaced Jerome as Emley looked to take control, and they almost did when a great move down the right saw the ball flashed across the area but Paul Walker was unable to control the ball cleanly and his shot went over, another Walker shot, this time from a free kick was saved by the keeper and Gooden was inches away from nicking a through ball past the keeper who did well to smother.

Clegg had replaced Tom Haigh and was heavily involved with tackles in the middle of the field.

Mossley were still pushing and a header from a corner was wide, and then the real drama started.

With less than 2 minutes left, Emley scored what looked like being a late winner, Clegg was involved, winning the ball and playing it out right, Gooden and Kelly then got involved before the ball was played across and Paul Walker was there to tap home at the back post, Emley were in raptures, Mossley shocked, but that wasn't the end.

Gooden had a sight of goal to try and wrap the tie up but he blazed high and wide and within a minute, Emley's hearts were broken, a good move down their right saw a cut back to the penalty spot and Camara was there to stroke home to the despair of Emley fans and the joy of the Mossley supporters in the shed.

It was almost harder to take for Emley as Mossley almost snatched a winner with their next attack but they couldn't convert from a corner, and with almost the last action of the 90 minutes, Lambton pulled off another great save to keep Emley in the tie from a close range header.

And so onto extra time and anyone's guess who would win it, Emley had the first chance of extra time but Iyrwah Gooden's deft chip wasn't strong enough to take it over the line.

Mossley saw a shot deflected at the other end as Lawrence hobbled off to be replaced by Nathan Curtis, Gooden again broke through but his right footed shot was high and wide, Emley piled the pressure on with consecutive corners which Mossley struggled with, Pashley, Saturday's hero saw a header cleared off the line but they wouldn't be so lucky on the next one.

With the vocal Emley supporters getting right behind their team, Ross Hardaker whipped a beauty in from the right, Gooden attacked it, the keeper fumbled it and Sam Pashley got the last touch and cue celebrations in the shed and Pashley was awarded the goal.

Now, the tie was Emley's to lose and with just 15 minutes of extra time to hold out, Mossley had to go for it and piled bodies forward, Emley's rearguard, led superbly by skipper Knowles and Pashley stood firm, Mossley had a shot that went wide as the game ticked away from them.

And then with Emley's fans in full voice, they went for the kill and ended Mossley's hopes and booked their place in the 3rd qualifying round, Joe Kenny set the attack in motion, Gooden carried it on and a lovely dinked ball into the danger zone saw James Walshaw nod home after the visitors failed to clear and ended their resistance and saw Emley book their place for a trip to Alfreton.

It was almost 4 right on time as Nathan Curtis saw a shot fizz wide from 20 yards.

A second successive NPL side had been beaten at the Welfare Ground and Emley were now on another glorious FA Cup run, it's the FA Vase next though as we travel to Brigg Town on Saturday.
