Emley were on the back foot early on as Eccleshill started the strongest, creating a couple of chances without testing Emley keeper Joe Stead.
It didn’t take long for the visitors to take the lead. Steve Rivera latched on to a ball over the top and lifted his shot, with a bit of luck, over the keeper and into the goal.
Emley looked to hit back with Jordan Townend going close with a low shot that hit the outside of the post and went wide.
Then the visitors got a second. Full back Jordan Hendrie waltzed through the Emley defence before placing his shot into the bottom corner.
Three minutes later, Emley were back in it through a lovely placed effort into the bottom corner from Michael Tunnacliffe.
That was to be Tunnacliffe’s last contribution as he came off with what looked like an injury, being replaced by Max Leonard.
Leonard could have had an instant impact on the game but his shot dragged wide of the post and Emley went in behind at the break.
The second half began and within five minutes Eccleshill doubled their lead, when Josh Rosenstrauch’s shot looped over the keeper.
That seemed to kick start Emley, and they responded through Leonard who hit a low, powerful 35 yard effort past the flailing keeper into the bottom left corner.
And they were level before the hour when Michael Starkey’s inviting cross was met by Antony Brown who headed well past the helpless Eccleshill stopper.
Their happiness was short lived, however when James Queeree restored the visitors lead in the 64th minute, and it got worse for Emley as Eccleshill made the most of the host’s ‘all-out attack’ approach by snatching a late goal when Doug Stevenson lifted his effort over the onrushing Stead to make it 5-3 and seal the win for the visitors.
